Supporting the Factory

The Factory Community Project and Children’s Centre has been supporting our local community for over 35 years. Based in the Mildmay Ward of Islington, a recognised area of deprivation, listed in the indices as 6th poorest Borough nationally, with one of the highest rates of child poverty both in London and Nationally. We strive to support our local residents to achieve all they can. We look after their children with day to day activities at our Children’s Centre and Out of School Project and teach users new skills and how to gain qualifications in our Adult Education Centre. We prepare a hot meal and a place to socialise for our four Elderly Groups. Users can get involved with our Time Bank and support others and meet new people.

Our project users need us to be here and be as fully committed as we have always been. Changes in funding and an increased demand for services is limiting our capacity to support and reach the most hard to engage groups. Survival is crucial to the next stage of regeneration for our area.

In response to the changing funding climate, the Factory is taking a new approach to funding and how to support our services and groups. With this we hope to create a steady stream of unrestricted funds with which to provide services unhindered by geographical boundaries or targeted demographics. To provide services for the people who are in need and not just those catergorised as needy.

With a little extra support from you we can keep supporting our local community for a long time to come and continue to see our users prosper. They must use the skills, confidence and ability gained with us to provide their families with better opportunities and a better quality of life.

Ticket prices range from as low as £1 depending on the value of the main prizes and numbers of tickets printed. Keep an eye on the “News Feed” for up to date information on Factory Raffles. Corporate Social Responsibility

We are supported by businesses in our local area, mostly through “Gifts in Kind” whose proceeds go towards direct service delivery, i.e. Toys for the Nursery and After-school Club or Reference Books for the Adult Education Project (We also use some of these gifts as prizes in our Factory Raffles).
